Getting a pet can be overwhelming, especially your first one. If you're anything like us, we wanted to wait until we were purrfectly prepared before adopting our first cat. We went out and bought all the things. Two litter boxes, plenty of food and litter, toys, food bowls, a water fountain, treats, cool cat trees, the whole shebang. We brought home our little baby, and the first thing we learned (very quickly) is that you can never be purrfectly prepared. You're always going to need another bag of treats, a different toy, a new brush, etc.

This fear of not being ready stops a lot of people from adopting a pet, but we're here to tell you to just go for it. If you wait until you're fully stocked, you'll never actually go out and do it, because you'll never be ready. It's just something you do, or in our case below, happens to you! Our woman below wanted a cat for months, but never felt ready. So, she let feline fate run its course, and what happened next? You guessed it - a cat found her and chose her at the "purrfect time". Turns out that right now is the "right time".

Cat pawrenting is a lifestyle. Your schedule, your furniture, and your personal space all belong to your cat. And you don't even question it because you love them. Also, they're way too adorable to judge. So at least we can laugh it off together with some cat pawrent memes!

Some people say it's the artist's most unhinged song, because it's basically about the special bond between a boy and his… rat.

Yep, you read that right, a rat. Although it is not mentioned in the song itself, it was used as the soundtrack for a horror movie about a rat, with young Michael's voice being the key element to the weirdly moving song. As years went by, people forgot about this weird origin story, and the song became a long song to the misunderstood, the outcast, and the unseen. 

Why are we telling you all about a song that came out in 1972?

Well, if you listen to the song's lyrics, you will find that they might apply to many relationships between a hooman and a pet, rat or otherwise. The song talks about two friends who have found each other after looking for someone for so long. It showcases how we are never alone with a friend by our side, even if that friend is always running around.

It's a beautiful tribute, and every time we hear that song, we think about our cats, who have found us against all odds and become our friends, even through all the struggles and the hurt.

Being a teenager is hard enough, not including the heavy responsibility of caring for an adorable cat while your sister and mother are abroad. 

Her sister does a yearly trip to Asia for two weeks, and in the past her mom would always come and stay in the home to take care of the cat. The problem this time around is that the mom is joining her for the trip. So what is she to do? The woman has her sister come to the rescue, problem is that the sister lives a 30 minute drive away, works nearly 7 days a week, and has 3 cats to take care of. The sass we have to stand up to when it comes to our cat children is simply unsustainable. It is something we deal with day and night and it has no end, there is no way to truly satisfy the urges and intrigues of a cat. Because much like themselves and water, no matter how far you move the goal posts, they will always think that they deserve more. Take for example a pawrent who has been yelled at more than a few times when their cat child has been upset by only receiving 3 treats a day.

Sure for a split second their cat will be happy to receive a fourth treat, but within a matter of days the cat will be sassing them for a fifth. So to make up for all those times when your cat is gnawing your head off and being a sassy Susan we made this list of other people's sassy cat children to give you a little giggle and to remind you that you are not on your own. 
 

The minute there's fresh dirt and new leaves, cats show up. 

Spring shows up, the plants start growing, and suddenly cats are everywhere in the middle of it. A garden isn't just a garden anymore, it's something to walk through, sit in, and mess with. Fresh dirt gets treated like it was put there for them. New leaves get inspected, tapped, and occasionally chewed just to see what happens.

Indoor plants don't get ignored either. The second something new comes into the house, a cat is already there checking it out. Sniffing, circling, deciding if it's worth knocking over later. You water the plants, and somehow that turns into an event. There's always a paw getting a little too close or a tail brushing through something that shouldn't be touched.

Outside, it's even more of a free-for-all. Cats move through gardens like they've always been part of it. Sitting between plants, hiding under leaves, popping out from places you didn't even notice were open. It turns into a mix of calm and chaos, depending on what they decide to do next.

Spring is supposed to be about growth and things coming back, but with cats around, it's also about figuring out what survives them. Some plants make it, some don't, and the cats stay completely unbothered either way.

She showed up on the patio and never left.

This went from we already have four cats to five really fast. A random cat showed up on the patio, and it turned out three different people in the house had been feeding her. No one planned it or even talked about it, but it was already happening. Once multiple people are involved like that, it's hard to treat the cat like a stranger.

The other cats didn't react the way you'd expect either. No hissing, no trying to keep their distance. Instead, they kept going to the window and meowing, like they were trying to get attention and point her out. It didn't feel like they saw her as a threat. If anything, it came across like they wanted her to join them.

Then she was inside, and nothing changed. No tension, no adjustment period, just walked in and settled down. The other cats didn't react at all, like she had always been part of the space. That kind of immediate acceptance doesn't happen often.

And once she curled up in someone's lap, that was the end of it. There's no putting a cat back outside after that. She had a name, Cinnamon Toast Cat, which made it feel even more set. Calling her a "home invader" didn't really hold up anymore. She showed up, got comfortable, and ended up staying.

If you ask us, a Trojan cat is a much nicer surprise than that horse the actual Trojans got back in the day.

Instead of a bunch of soldiers ready to destroy your camp, a Trojan cat will give you little kittens, who, even though they just might destroy your house too, will shower you with love and awwdorable energy that you simply will not be able to resist.

We had the pleasure of being gifted with a Trojan cat once, who only revealed she was pregnant with a little baby after she already gave birth to said baby. We woke up to her parading her bed and showing us her latest creation, while we stood there, shocked, because we didn't even know she had anything in there besides the latest round of treats we gave her the night before.

When you find yourself in possession of a Trojan cat, it's important to remember that the inside gift is just as important as the outer one, even though that wasn't the case for the Trojans. They were not that excited to find something inside the huge horse, but for a cat pawrent, getting a few more cats as a gift from the original one you adopted doesn't sound like such a bad deal.

There are so many moments with our cats that we wish we could capture on camera. Moments that happen too fast, that live in our memories forever. Some people are lucky enough to capture them. 

Living with cats is pure chaos. Anyone who tells you otherwise has not actually lived with a cat for a significant amount of time. Cats might act all shy and cute with you in the beginning, as they gain your trust and see if you are worthy of being shown their true colors. But eventually… the chaos happens. And when the chaos happens, it happens fast. 

You're sitting there, when out of nowhere, your cat runs out of the hallway, does a backflip off the wall, runs headfirst into a chair, and then screams its little heart out like a gladiator before a battle, before running right back into the hallway. That happens. It happens more often than you would think. At least it does with our cats. And every time it happens, we end up with our jaws on the floor, regretting not having our phones out to capture that moment. But we suppose that during a time when we have our phones out nearly all the time, some people are bound to capture these chaotic cat moments on camera. Here are some of them. 

It started with one stray on a ring camera and ended with a full house of cats.

It started with a homeowner noticing the same stray cat showing up on their ring camera over and over. Instead of brushing it off, the homeowner started leaving out food and water, turning a quick sighting into a daily routine. The cat kept coming back, got more comfortable, and before anything official like TNR could happen, she showed up clearly pregnant and changed the whole situation.

The stray began spending time on the porch and eventually let the homeowner pet her. A heated cat house went out, the setup got more permanent, and then she disappeared. The homeowner went looking, checking nearby woods and trying to figure out where she went.

The update came from a neighbor's Facebook post. It was the same cat, now with kittens, just in a different spot. The homeowner brought the mom and kittens in while waiting for spay and neuter appointments, planning to foster and move them along.

That plan only partly worked. The mom cat, later named Mae, and two kittens went to new homes, but three stayed. Miyu, Runty, and Black Bean stuck around and became part of the household. What started as feeding a stray turned into a long-term setup without much planning, and three years later, those cats were still there like they had always been.
