But I know better now

Oh god. The more bad fanfic I read, the more I realise that I write bad fanfic.
Or I did, before I almost entirely stopped writing.
I just started reading a Merlin story, and less than half a paragraph in there are all the clichés - lithe, pliant, soft, moon-kissed skin. Ack. I think I've used all of those at some point in the last ten years.
Not normally all in one paragraph, but still.
*hangs head in shame*

Re: Beware, they're addictive.
Date: 2010-04-08 06:06 am (UTC)Also, after some careful reading and exploring, the first euphoria over "dragon eggs, yay!" gave way to the realization that I'll most probably end up frustrated and disappointed.
Why you might ask. Well, as I see it if I'd like to have any other egg that is not GREEN (I totally fell in love with the Icedragon) I will have to have an insane amount of luck. Apparently even the pretty common eggs are mostly only available at the cave entrance and I spent (just for fun and because I had time) my evening trying to get an INTERESTING egg. I didn't even have any delusions about getting a paperegg, a dino or a cheese egg. Guess what? even after hours of eggs being constantly released at the cave (abandoned cave was pretty empty) I wasn't even CLOSE to getting anything other than green eggs. Maybe my page is loading too slowly, maybe I am doing something wrong. Fact is i realized that if you are too slow and you have nothing to trade (which would require you have something interesting to trade in the first place) then I am bound to end up with .... green eggs?
Which yes, is slightly disappointing me already.
Anyway, still waiting for my first hatchling, so this is not something that has to concern me at all right now. Just saying. As much as they are addicting, they are also quite a source for disappointment.
Of course you can say patience is not one of my strong points and you would even be right. I guess in the weeks to come I will just have to hope I will get "lucky" at one point.
